NICE BIKE... JUST TOO BIG AND HEAVY FOR ME TO REALLY ENJOY.
YEA YEA..I KNEW IT WAS HEAVY BEFORE I BOUGHT IT, THOUGHT I WOULD GET USED TO IT..BUT THEN AGAIN? WHY BOTHER?
HERES A PIC THE DAY IT QUIT ON ME IN WASHINGTON WITH WIFEY!...FIRST
BIKE IN 35 YEARS TO EVER LEAVE ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! OH YEA!
I WAS HAPPY WITH IT!
And of course thanks to all those guys who went by and gave
me the biker wave thing...oh yea, that helped! SO MUCH FOR ALL THAT BROTHER
BIKER CRAP....
SEPT 08, ITS GONE TO A NEW HOME . WHY?....The bulk and weight, (I knew this was gonna be a problem , so that part not the bikes fault)..To me this was like driving a truck, as opossed to a mustang! I just didnt enjoy all the extra work involved herding it around! Just too much plastic in front of me for my liking! So the size and weight are not the bikes fault, just not my thing. Time to leave and let me back on smaller bikes.
I might have kept it for my 2 upping, but the lousy efi setup that
made going slow a real jerk fest..,the clunky tranny, and the
vibrations did it in. Too bad, A nice looking bike that went like mad (and
i enjoyed that part)! I should have ridden it further before I bought it
and realized this, but of course i read all the junk on the net and of
course no one EVER finds fault with their stuff..:) And i did give it a
chance..it went many miles under me, including a trip from MB to Kamloops
in 1 day...2200 km non stop....So i tried to like it... Might have been
able to put up with it if I had never ridden anything else....hmm..naw.!
Quite a disapointment.
What really surprises me is the fact people put up with this?...sounds like all i read is how they all try to fix it, power comanders, throttle cams, etc, but why have to? Nobody in their right mind would buy a new car and put up with this! They would drive the dealership nuts till it was fixed! So why is ok to put up with it on a bike? I dunno..Guess its good for the companies.. they have no reason to fix it if nobody bitchs.
And yes I rode raybobs st1300 for a day, very nice!..tradeoffs with
the fjr?
hmmm..the fjr looks way sportier, is way quicker,(as in way more
than the hp reading suggest!), is a bit more planted in the wind
,a bit better handling the tight ones,, and just feels smaller(better)
to me! the Honda on the other hand had typical honda finesse to all the
controls, a nicer tranny, much better efi setup, (still not perfect either,
it had a small jerky, and was quit wonky at high elevation!), But
no vibes at all! Also felt lighter to move around even tho its heavier!
But wayyyyy to much plastic up front for me . The ergos worked great for
me on both as delivered, no need to turn them into cruisers for me. Let
me chop 6 inchs off that picture window on the st and i think i'd
rate them even.!
I liked my st1100 better than both of them, no efi glitchs
thank you...
